Community Economy

The blokC catalyst for creative change is the principle of primary primitives that we use to understand socio-cultural-technological innovation and transformation. We can also apply the principle of primary primitives in order to surface the modal structures within socio-cultural systems that drive innovation, insight, and ingenuity.

And from that process came what we at blockC call the Protocol for Augmented Narrative Generation (PANG). PANG combines cutting edge Generative AI and Web3 technology, along with human creativity, to decentralize and accelerate the creation of production ready storylines.

These production ready storylines develop through what we have identified as Narrative Primitives. Narrative Primitives are a type of primary primitive structure within the larger frame of storytelling and its concomitant discipline of narratology. Building on this framework of Narrative Primitives, PANG can programmatically assemble IP assets, that in turn instantiate IP equity pools, royalty pools, and their commemorative NFT collections. Thus, empowering a new generation of stories and storytellers primed for creative collaboration.

Here’s what to expect…

Black American Culture Creates “The Culture”

The creative prowess of Black American culture is undeniable in global popularity and unrivaled in international influence. “In the case of on-demand video streams, the ‘R&B/hip-hop’ category actually claimed over a third of all plays, at 33.9%,” according to Music Business Worldwide in 2020. In 2015 machine learning research revealed that “Hip-hop is the single greatest revolution in the U.S. pop charts by far,” recounted Armand M. Leroi, a professor of evolutionary developmental biology at Imperial College London and co-author of the study.

Historically speaking, as well as in our current day, Black American culture is the most bankable creative reservoir on the planet.

“A large swath of American popular culture comes from Black culture and that is before the internet even existed. We can take any historical period and look at popular culture, at any particular historical period, and see the ways in which white folks who have access to mainstream capital and mainstream media and other forms of access were drawing inspiration from the art forms and creative forms of Black folks.”

Sarah J. Jackson, Associate Professor and co-director of the Media, Inequality & Change Center at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication

Black Creators Lack Equity & Representation

The suffocating shadow cast from the current wealth gap of Black Americans looms large in the lives of the entire community including Black Creators, regardless of the inability of some in our broader American community to embrace these ugly facts.

Despite these circumstances, our Black American community leads in engagement with new digital media as consumers and creators. Nielsen reported in 2021 that in the era of personalization and inclusion in media, Black audiences worldwide are looking to see both their collective and distinct experiences represented. When surveying these numbers, we observe that Black America delivers over 1 trillion viewing minutes in a single quarter, but is also twice as likely to feel portrayals of their identity group on T.V. are completely inaccurate.

In the new Creative Economy, our Black American Creators disproportionately suffer from not receiving credit for their creativity and original work, robbing them of prestige and proceeds. In 2021, Black Tik-Tok creators went on strike in protest of this cultural and economic appropriation.

Black Community is a Leader in Tech Adoption

It’s a scarcely known fact that our Black American community is an early adopter of blockchain technology recognizing its transformative potential for individual and community economic empowerment. Even more specifically our Black American community realized how cryptocurrency offered a means to address the wealth gap through bypassing barriers to access traditional assets by opting into the crypto economy.

Regardless of being ahead of the trend for adopting blockchain technologies as a community, Black Americans remain left behind in access to broadband internet and a home computer, and are also largely locked out of employment in the burgeoning American Technology sector. This technology paradox of high engagement vs low equity is underscored by the increased hurdles faced in onboarding Black American youth into STEM careers. The Black American community is ready and seeking paths toward equity in this new technology landscape, where access to equity justly matches their ability to engage!

The Twin Win = Black + Metaverse
